When I was a boy, I never knew how to act in front of others
When I tried to speak the words would get... stuck
I looked to the stars and wept and to the garden came my mother
She knelt down beside me, she lifted me up
Our eyes on the skies, she taught me to spot and name the constellations
And said there's a special friend waiting out there
She said when the life we live turns harsh and scary he's always above us waiting
To escape from the world, just put your trust in the bear
StarBear, are you out there? And I won't take no for an answer
I've a need for something real, and I've no choice but to believe
So StarBear, if you're out there, then I know you don't have the answers
But I don't know how to feel, and I need a friend
As I grew up it remained our special secret kept between us
Whenever we were apart and needed someone to care
And as she grew ill, she said "Don't cry for me, for son I promise.
I'll never really be gone, I'll be with the bear"
StarBear, are you out there? And I won't take no for an answer
I've a need for something real, and I've no choice but to believe
So StarBear, if you're out there, then I know you don't have the answers
But I don't know how to feel, and I need a friend
StarBear, are you out there? And I won't take no for an answer
I've a need for something real, and I've no choice but to believe
So StarBear, if you're out there, then I know you don't have the answers
But I don't know how to feel, and I need a friend
StarBear, are you out there? And I won't take no for an answer
I've a need for something real, and I've no choice but to believe
So StarBear, if you're out there, then I know you don't have the answers
But I don't know how to feel, and I need a friend
The latest album by The Mechanisms, a group of storytelling space-pirates who retell tales of mythology as epic folk/prog/rock concept albums. This one's about Viking mythology, on a train, in space. Ben Below
The first album I've produced, and played many instruments on to boot - another storytelling concept album from one of the Mechanisms, R L Hughes. Ben Below
The collaborative album writing challenge with colleagues, to write a 15 song album in a month. It turned out super sweet, and I'm in a good two thirds of the tracks in some capacity! Ben Below
This is a great adaptation of Arthuriana and a brilliant narrative album. I love how the queerness of the characters is handled as an integral part of the narrative and plot development without it being the end all be all of the characters themselves. my boy Gawain deserved better though maritarvaniti
Two slabs of surfy psych-rock instrumentals from a group that's been doing it longer than you've been alive, probably. Bandcamp New & Notable May 7, 2024
